MORE SOCKS AND MOM STORY

I’ve been busy making more socks for Mary Lou’s Sock Swap. I know they look like the ones I posted the other day, but they are not. I tried some new things, like making the heel a different color, adding some appliqué, and making short fat ones and long skinny ones. After all, we all don’t have the same shape legs! I have most of my 18 blocks done and am now anxious to see how we put these together as they are various sizes. I love Mary Lou’s designs so I’m sure it will be wonderful. I’ll keep you posted.

Mom – Though I’m retired, I’ve been filling in at work while someone is off on sick leave. I only work from 8-noon. When I came home the other day, Mother started in. “Let’s go out to eat. We haven’t been out to eat in some time.” (We went out to eat two days ago).

I said, “We talked about this yesterday. We are going out to eat at the end of the week.”

I got a blank stare from her, so I continued, “Besides it is snowing and I’m not leaving the house again today.”

For the rest of the afternoon, every ten minutes she asked, “Should I put my coat on?”

Then she brought her coat into the kitchen and put it on a chair near the back door. “Are you ready yet?”

No matter what I said about staying home, and complained about the snow, she continued to insist that we go out to eat. When I saw her in her bedroom putting on high heels, I gave up.

“Where do you want to go?” I asked her. “What do you want to eat?”

“I want a hamburger, fries, and one of those Frosty things.” I was surprised that she was so quick to say what she wanted. She further surprised me by adding, “It’s snowing, why don’t we just go and get the food and bring it back here.”

Sounded good to me.  I held my breath as I got her and her high heels into the car. We drove up to Wendy’s drive-through window, Mom leaned over and said, “I’ll have spaghetti, a cup of coffee, and a piece of apple pie with ice cream.”

I don’t know who was more stunned, me or the order taker who was saying, “W..what?”

I had planned on staying on my diet and just get a salad. Instead, I ordered us both hamburgers, fries and big Frosty’s and hurried home.

Can't wait to see how they are used; very cute!
When we were younger, we never thought we would have to be in your position with parents, did we? I totally know what you're going thru. I went through similar stuff with my mom for two long years. Keep your spirits up.
