WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I had hoped to get some sewing accomplished this weekend.  We got snow and I looked forward to spending long hours in my sewing room.  You know what they say: best laid plans often go astray.  I didn’t get to finish this charity quilt above.  I cleaned house instead, getting ready for company for the Thanksgiving holiday.

I did want to show you the blocks I’ve been working on.  Did you notice that the centers are all of made fabric?  I placed them on black fabric to see if that is what I want to use for the sashing.  I think it is, don’t you?

This is a close up of one of the blocks so you can see the made fabric center block.

A lot of exciting happenings are going on at the Attic Window Quilt Shop this week.  Have you signed up for Craft Day?  That is always loads of fun.  If you can't come to the one this Saturday, you can register for the one on Friday, Dec. 4.  Craft Day is always a mystery as to what we will be making.  That's one of the things that make it so much fun.

HAPPENING THIS WEEK AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP:
  • London City Bag, Monday, Nov. 23
  • Farm Girl Vintage, Tuesday, Nov. 24
  • CLOSED FOR THANKSGIVING, Thursday, Nov. 26
  • Breakfast Stitch-in, Friday, Nov, 27

HAPPY SCRAPPERS ARE PRODUCTIVE

The Happy Scrappers met recently at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above, Cheryl shows us the lovely thread catcher she made during our session.  Love that fabric!
Jane shows us this adorable flimsy that she completed that day.  She said it is for charity.  What a great gal!
Diana gave a quick demo on how to sew a circle using her new attachment for her machine. Maybe that attachment is what I'll ask Santa for Christmas.
When Diana wasn't looking I got a quick snapshot of the blocks she has been working on.  I love these 30s fabrics and asked her to teach a class on making this quilt.
Adrienne came in that day ready to work!  She had totes full of strips of fabrics.  She worked on making triangles for a quilt.  I'm eager to see this one finished.  She has a great color sense.

Julie B. shows us her latest finish.  What a lovely quilt.  Diana said that Julie did all that arc quilting by hand!
Cathy B. shows us her latest finish.  It is beautiful.
This is a close up of some of the cross-stitched centers in Cathy's quilt.
Misti sent a picture of all that she has recently finished.  I know she was at a retreat.  I'm wondering if she did this all at her retreat.  She sure does get a lot accomplished!  Wish I had her energy!

GIFT MAKING YET?

Misti sent me this picture of her latest bag that she has made as a gift.  This is what she writes:
  • “Well FINALLY I finished Em’s quilt and it is off to the quilters as of yesterday.  I will get it back the first week of December.  Now I can stop fretting about getting it done.  I’m working a star wars stocking for Em’s boyfriend, lots of quilted ball ornaments in the making, pillow cases, more bowl buddies, some grocery sacks and whatever else pops into play.  I’m gearing up for Christmas now. “
What an inspiration Misti is.  Thank you Misti for sending the picture of this lovely bag.

Christmas?   I haven't even started thinking about that yet.  However, I've been inspired.  I'm off now to my sewing room.  What are you making for Christmas?

PICTURES FROM EMAIL

I haven’t been able to get any quilting done this past week as I have had out of town guests.  But I do have some beautiful quilts to show you.  Above, is a picture that Sue L. sent me.  Sue wrote in her email:
  • “A long time ago (but still 2015) I took the "One Block Wonder" class from Vickie S.   Well, I FINALLY finished the top.  It is ready to go to the quilter.  I thought I would send it to you and maybe the lady who taught the class will want to see it.  She might remember me - I cut her fingers two times with my rotary cutter!  UGH!”
Thanks Sue for sending.  Your quilt is beautiful.  And I’m sure Vickie will be glad to see it…and yes, I imagine Vickie will remember you.  LOL  She is such a fantastic teacher! And a good sport too!

Marjorie sent me a picture of additional blocks she is making.  She wrote:
  • "Here are five more blocks. I have been thinking about sashing; maybe just solid black.  The other thought is to use the same white with black in every block and then stitch them together.  Maybe I just have too many colors!!!!!  I have so much bright wacky fabrics from previous quilts that I thought I might get rid of some in a useful way.  Thanks again and I will just keep stitching!!!"
On my previous post, I had a picture of her first block.  I love Marjorie’s bright colors and hope she does keep on stitching as I'm anxious to see how her quilt turns out.  I think we are running a race.  She now has more blocks completed than I do.  I better get busy!

HAVE YOU HEARD?  The Jingle Bell Hop is Nov. 13 – 21st.  You get a free table runner pattern with the purchase of your $5 passport.  Also available for purchase is a darling ornament kit and pattern.  There are four shops participating in this fun event:  Quilted Memories; Queen Bee; Pressing Matters, and the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Get your passport now at a participating shop.

ARE YOU MAKING THIS BLOCK?

Do you remember the blocks I was making during the last Happy Scrappers meeting at the Attic Window Quilt Shop?  You can read about it here.  (scroll down)  Marjorie, a reader of this blog sent me this picture of her block.  She was interested in making it after she read about it on the blog and wrote me for further directions.  I asked her to send a picture if she made one.  Above is her beautiful block! I love the fabrics she used.  Thank you so much Marjorie!  I hope you continue to make more and send pictures of your progress.

I'm making slow progress.  I'm just using scraps but I think these blocks will make a nice quilt, especially after I add sashing.  Are you making any of these blocks?

MAKING AN INVESTMENT IN THE HUMAN RACE

Today the group that makes quilts for charity met at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above are the stack of quilts that Laura brought in.  She made all of them but one.

These are just a few of the quilts.  This one above is the one she did not make.  They are all adorable.
Above are more of Laura's quilts spread on a table so you can see them better.
Laura did have this quilt to show us.  She said that she made it for her niece.
Above Laura works on her Trip Around The World quilt that she is making for the charity group.
Nancy showed us her Trip Around the World that she made for the group.
Mary Tanis, left, (who leads the group) and Laura, and Cathy were busy working on charity quilts today.
Mary W.  joined the group and was working on a 30's quilt.
Mary Ellen works on a charity quilt.
Lee Anne kept busy today working on a charity quilt.  I did ask her about the bag class that she will be having later this month and will show you more about that later.
Vickie S. was having a "catch-up" class for her Lone Star Swirl quilt.  Above, Linda shows us her mock up for her quilt.
Last but not least, I want to thank Carmela Cataudella-Sanzone for sending us this box of fabrics for our charity group.  Carmela lives in Pennsylvania and when she read on the blog that we needed donations of fabric, she boxed up some of her fabrics and sent them to us.  What a pleasant and wonderful surprise.  Mary T. and Lee Anne said they would try to remember which of your fabrics go into a quilt so I could take a picture and send it to you.

I read in Reader's Digest that you should not think of it as charity, but think of it as an investment in the Human Race.

Carmalea we can't thank you enough!  You are truly an angel.  Wish you were here too so you could sew with us.  You prove what I have said in the past:  Quilters are the best!!!!!

HAPPENING THIS WEEK:
  • Sew Together Bag, Wednesday, Nov 4
  • Doll Bee Very Small Snowman, Thursday, Nov. 5
  • Quilt As You Go, Friday, Nov. 6
  • Sampler & Bee, Saturday, Nov. 7
