NEW BOM AT ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

You may remember when I told you about the new BOM coming in September at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  You can read about it here.  Blocks from this BOM will be taken from the Quilt Block Cook Book by Amy Gibson.  Cathy and I decided to play around with some of the blocks.  She gave me three blocks for me to set however I liked.  I decided to try an on-point setting and placed the green triangles around this first one.
For the next block, Cathy had some leftover purple fabric and I used it to set this block.
The last block I had to use orange.  There was a touch of orange in some of the fabrics in previous blocks, so I thought it would work.  The quilting is another story.

I decided to make a table runner and after sewing them together, I put it on the frame and started to quilt.  After the first block I realized I had a problem.  Something wasn't right, so I took the sandwich off the frame and smoothed out the back and proceeded to quilt the other blocks on the table top machine.  I was so frustrated by the tine I finished the second block, I thought about just cutting everything up an making three separate blocks.  However, I persisted, finished the quilting, only to discover nothing is flat.  The sides ripple.  I don't know what I did, but at least you can see what the blocks look like.  Most of the settings in the book are not on point.  I guess that is what I like about these blocks.  Amy has an interesting grid method that she uses and provides us with several setting ideas.  I hope you will want to join us in September for this fun BOM.  Call the shop to register so we will be sure to have enough kits available for everyone.
