CLASS LEADS TO ORIGINAL DESIGN!

Jana Lee and I had a one-on-one applique session last week at the Attic Window Quilt Shop. She wanted to learn my method of freezer paper applique.  I thought if she knew how to make the various shapes: oval, stem, leaf, square, petal, then she could make anything.
Jana Lee caught on quite rapidly and in no time had all the various shapes made. Our last try was making the flower petals. She then took all the pieces and made a cute little applique flower in a pot. She is holding the project in the first picture.  This is her original design! Now she can sandwich and quilt it and use it as a table topper, wall hanging, mug rug, whatever. The important thing is that now she is ready to tackle El Cameno Real.  I made the wall hanging in the book a few years ago and this got Jana Lee enthused about applique.  You can read about my wall hanging here.

It was a fun day and I can't wait to see Jana Lee's quilt.  I hope to post pictures as it develops.

AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP THIS WEEK
  • UFO Day, Monday, July 31
ON ANOTHER NOTE:
  • OP Quilts has a tutorial for making an oven mitt.  This would make a nice Christmas gift or hostess gift.
