HAPPY SCRAPPERS HAVE A CLASS

The Happy Scrappers met Wednesday at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above is Cathy M's beautiful quilt.  She said it was from a kit.  She did all the quilting herself.
I bet you couldn't tell that Cathy's quilt is a QAYG quilt.  This is the back of Cathy's quilt.  You can see more of how she did this QAYG by going to her blog Grand Rapids Modern Quilters.
Cathy also graciously accepted my request to show us how to use the Curve It Up ruler.  Above she talks to the group and shows us the table runner she made using the ruler.
She showed us her sample block that she made for this class.
Above Cathy (right) shows Adrienne how to mark the fabric for ruler placement.
This is a closer view of what they are doing.
Cathy works with Peggy on making her blocks.
Peggy seemed to get the hang of making these blocks.  Above are a few of her curve squares.
 Diana's blocks seem almost perfect!
Peggy shows us her first block.  Isn't it lovely!  Good for you Peggy.
I understand making this block was rather difficult.  I was sitting next to Adrienne as she made her first seam. After some ripping and resewing, Adrienne put everything away and started a new project. She said she would rather work on something else. She said that she didn't know what to bring to work on today and grabbed a box of fabrics labeled 2001.  Inside were stacks of cut to size flowered prints.  At first she thought it was too much piecing and would never finish this project.  After further thought, she thought she would give it a try and decided she liked it.  I do too.  Adrienne finished two of these blocks today.
Paula showed us this beautiful quilt.  She said the pattern is from an Edyta Sitar children's book.
This is a close up of Paula's quilt.  Look at all those little pieces of fabric in the bird's nest.
I think Jane was a little irritated with me when I insisted that she hold up her latest project.  These blocks are paper pieced.  I'm eager to see the entire quilt.
I think I caught Lee Anne off guard too.
Joyce has a lovely smile.  She and Lee Ann worked on their Shop Swap quilts.  This Shop Swap is between Attic Window Quilt Shop and Quilted Memories.

A very special thank you to Cathy for being our teacher today.  Lots of fun was had by all!

  2. I love that curve ruler. It's the one I'm using for the metro rings quilt I am currently working on. I love the blocks you were learning to make.
