A QUILTER WITH A HEART

Recently while at the Attic Window Quilt Shop, Joan Mull stopped in.  We saw that she had quilts in her arms and convinced her to show them to us.  Joan said, “I made this quilt for a friend's granddaughter and it will be sent to Minnesota."
Check out this little frog.
Daddy’s little dear.
These are all so cute.

TIP: And have you ever thought about putting a sleeve at the top and bottom of your quilt?  Joan says she always does that because she can slide a yard stick or a dowel into the bottom sleeve and this makes it hang straight.  What a great idea!
But wait there’s more.  Joan also showed us this quilt that she made for a raffle.
She said, “Each year, Ionia ISD supplies the same panel of fabric to each participating quilter.  The theme for 2018 is You & Me by the Sea. Quilters then create a design and purchase complementary fabrics to make a 40 X 60 quilt. Raffle tickets are sold in February & March and the raffle takes place in late March.
Joan read this from the brochure: "This program started in Tennessee and has spread across the United States. School leaders from Ionia ISD and local school districts embraced the concept of the program and felt that it would be a very appropriate school readiness initiative for the whole county. Ionia is only one of the 18 counties in the state that have this program."

"The 2019 theme will be decided in February. 2018.  It is the 5th year I have participated."
