Anyway, we had fun sewing, talking and snacking! What a wonderful day! I'm so thankful for having this hobby. I've met so many wonderful friends and I noticed something the other day. I was sitting alone at home and having some negative thoughts (okay, I was feeling sorry for myself) and went to my sewing room and got busy. And you know what? I didn't have a negative thought all that day! I was busy making something for my granddaughter and creating and enjoying and thanking God for giving me this awesome hobby.
And it occurred to me, this is a dying art. I don't think schools even have a sewing class anymore. How do young women learn to sew? Does anyone make gifts anymore? And what about giving to charity? I belong to a group that makes the quilts, gives them to me to quilt on my long arm machine, I give them back, they attach binding and give them to charity. People still need this creative art. It benefits both the giver and the receiver.
My question is, what can we do to keep this wonderful art from dying? Anyone??????
Well, enough of my thoughts. I wanted to let everyone know that the Happy Scrappers will not be meeting the months of November (due to Craft Days. Have you signed up for Craft Day yet?) and December (due to the Holidays). Our next meeting will be the last Saturday in January. I expect to take a lot of pictures then!!!
The Attic Window Quilt Shop. It is open Monday-Friday, 10-5, and Saturday, 10-4.

I think we all just keep talking, posting, sharing our love of quilting, crafting products, volunteering, and making gifts. I'm writing short stories with the hope that, one day, at least one story will resonate with someone on the fence. Maybe they'll be encouraged to take an interest, stop in at a local quilt shop, pull a family quilt from the shelf and ask questions. Thank you for sharing the gathering of the Happy Scrappers - you're all doing beautiful work.
