You are probably wondering, what the heck is a three "F" finish. I think of it like this (1) It is my First finish of 2013; (2) It is a First Friday of the month finish; (3) It is the First time I have done a “knife- edge” finish.
I found this pattern in the January/February issue of McCall’s Quilting Magazine. This table runner is Heart of the Home and calls for a knife-edge finish. I had no idea what that was. Several people sent me “how-to” links, but they were not as described in the magazine.
So I used the technique described in the magazine and think it turned out okay, don’t you? It was a fun quilt to make and will look nice on my son’s large table during the month of February. I plan on giving it to my son because this quilt’s finished size is 53” long and will fit his large table perfectly. Would you like to make one too? You can join us at the Attic Window on Jan. 23. Check the calendar on the sidebar for details.
I’m linking up to Confessions of a Fabric Addict today. Check it out and see who else is Whooping it up.
And since I finished it up, I am adding it to Crazy Mom Quilts Linky
On Another Note: Open Gate Quilts has a new BOM. The first block is up now.
Until next time,
♥

I love all of your "F's" --- great job! I admit that I just had to Google "knife edge finish" but I landed on a great little tutorial that explained it really well. I had not seen this method before but I will most definitely be trying it. It really is invisible on your table runner. The runner I love, by the way. My maiden name is Valentine so anything with a heart on it makes me smile :-).
This is so very pretty and your edges are perfection.
That's a really lovely table runner. Your son will love it!
You did a great job. It turned out vry well. Happy New Year.
LOVE this runner!
Your heart runner looks fabulous! Congratulations on getting it finished! :0)
Oh Caroll it's brilliant! Great job! Your knife-edge binding turned out wonderfully.
This is a very pretty runner. Yeah, a traditional binding would detract from its look. :) I've never done a knife-edge. Something to try soon!
Love the table runner!! Colors are great and I love the look of the knife edge finish.
Love the table runner! The colors are perfect! The finish makes the table runner! Well done! Thank you for sharing.
Have a super great sewing and stitching day!
Very pretty - such a great table runner! Whoop whoop!!
sorry to be redundant...but, this table runner is REALLY cherry-CUTE, pretty...awesome!

What a nice runner! I have always liked hearts. They go nicely in any season too. Great finish!
It's so beautiful, Caroll! Well done! I love it. I have a two F complement I could make (one that my colleague and I use a lot), but it might be offensive to some. So, I'll keep it to myself. I can tell you Saturday if you remind me! LOL.
