YOU WON'T BE BORED IN 2021 IF YOU STOP AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

I stopped in at the Attic Window Quilt Shop today and can't tell you how much fun I had.  Some major redecorating has been going on and I had to show you some of the wonderful items I saw.

But First: I want to tell you that the January Calendar is on the sidebar.  There are a few things I want to point out.

  • Christmas Through The Year is starting this month.  You will make quick gifts throughout the hear for any occasion.  Two sessions will be held each month.  The charge is $5 a session plus a kit fee if available. The first sessions are Friday, Jan. 15, from 1-3; and/or Monday, Jan. 18, from 6-8.  You will learn a new technique with several different layouts. Class will be limited at this time so please call the shop to make your reservation.
    • February will be a bag with two colors and prairie points and an easy zipper method.
    • March will be a Star Tablemat, using a tool from Creative Grids and 1 1/2" strips.  There will be two different designs.
    • Dates to be determined.
  • Applique Block of the month!  This is a pick up BOM only.  Call the shop to sign up for this cute quilt or you can make a separate wall hanging each month.  Stop in and see samples of the first four months.  Lee Anne has been busy making the samples for the shop!  They can be machine or hand appliqued. The book needs to be purchased at sign up.  Kits are $8 each month.  Special hangers are also available for purchase if you are not putting them into a quilt.
Now for some more pictures of what I saw at the shop.

A nice bag!
Cute patterns!  New books are in too.

And I had to show this.  It is the first block of Lee Anne's pick up applique block of the month.  Isn't it adorable!

YOU WILL WANT TO MAKE ONE OF THESE

I wish I had known about this before Christmas!  Kelly, a new friend from Pittsburgh, gave me this today, and I had to share it with you.  This is so clever and makes a nice gift any time of the year.
What is it, you ask.  It is a cook's towel.  You drape it around your neck and you always have your towel available for wiping your hands.  That is so clever.  I'm forever looking around for my towel, and even if I know where it is (in it's usual spot), I have to turn and walk to it.  This way it is always available, right there!  Thank you, Kelly, for this clever towel.  I will use it often.

How to make it:

When I look at it, it looks you will need a fabric strip that is 7 inches wide.  The length of fabric for the neck piece is 44 inches, not counting the amount you need to turn under at the ends.  However, now I notice there is seam at the back, so you would need two pieces of fabric 23 inches long, one for each side.  Sew these two pieces together with the seam in the back, then fold length of piece in half and sew down the length of the strip making a strip 4 1/2 inches wide and 44 inches long.  Turn so raw edges of this long seam are on inside.  Iron so that seam is down the middle of the strip, then after cutting your hand towel in half, tuck each piece in an end of the neck piece and sew two rows at each end.

I hope this is clear!  If you have any questions let me know.  And again, thank you Kelly.  So very nice of you!

PROUD OF MY GIRLS

OK, I admit it.  I'm a proud great grandma!  I had to show you my great grand girls and what they have been making for the holidays.  I'm so proud and happy that their mother is teaching them to sew and do handwork.  The youngest on the right made the Christmas stocking, and the oldest is learning embroidery.  If you can't see it, this is what she is stitching, "Home is where the flowers grow."  I wish they didn't live so far away so we could sew together.  As it is, I've been spending the past week cleaning and organizing my sewing room, and in anticipation of their summer visit, setting aside fabric, patterns, and notions that I think they might like.  Thanks for letting me indulge.

Be sure and check out the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  I understand new fabric has arrived and, remember, there is still time to pick up an easy kit of a cute project for Christmas.

Store hours are Friday, 10-5; and Saturday, 10-4.

SMALL FINISHES AND NEW CALENDAR

I may have said this before, but during this Pandemic I've had a difficult time focusing. However,  I do have some accomplishments to show you.  Above are hot pads that I made from my scraps.

And these are a bunch of EPP coasters that I made.  Below is a closeup of some of them:

I kept myself busy making these so I would not eat so much during this anxiety ridden time. It was fun going through my scraps and finding the perfect centers to fussy cut for my coasters.  I got the EPP papers from the Attic Window Quilt Shop.

Which reminds me: The December calendar is on the sidebar.  Be sure and take a look to see what is happening this month.  Chris told me today that she would have another kit ready soon.  And watch for the BIG SALE coming in the New Year.

Hope everyone is staying safe.
