HOW WILL YOU CELEBRATE THE 4TH OF JULY?

Hello Quilters!  Are you ready for the holiday weekend?  During these trying times it's difficult to know what to do and how to celebrate.  Quilting makes my heart sing and I plan to enjoy this beautiful weekend singing/sewing.  Chris at the Attic Window Quilt Shop has asked me to let you know a few things:
  • You can pickup your project for any BOM or Sampler class that you were taking.  The projects will be ready for you any time during the month of July.
  • This month there will be open sewing on Fridays and Saturdays after the holiday.
  • The shop will be closed on Saturday, July 4th.
  • Shop hours will remain the same during the month of July: Monday-Thursday, 10-5; Friday and Saturday, 10-3.
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend.

HOW ABOUT A TABLE RUNNER?

Finally!  I finished this table runner.  You can see it at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.
I made the table runner from this pattern.  You will notice, I did not follow the pattern exactly, but I think it turned out okay. You can get the pattern for the table runner and place mats at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.

By the way, I had the times the shop is open wrong.  The hours for June are Monday-Thursday, 10-5; Friday and Saturday, 10-3.

Chris said that you can now come in and attend the BOMs, Bees, and regular classes.  If you feel you are not quite ready to return to sessions yet, you may stop in at the shop and pick up your projects, instructions, kits, notions, etc.  Or, the items you need can be sent to you.  The phone number for the shop is 616-785-3357, or you can email Chris at BrownAttic@aol.com.

LOTS OF FUN PLANS FOR THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

Teachers at the Attic Window Quilt Shop met recently to discuss upcoming classes and events, and to see new patterns and fabric in at the shop.  Above is one of the panels that Chris showed us.  My daughter-in-law will want one of these Loon panels.  So beautiful!
And here is another beautiful panel that is available at the shop.  As I recall, Chris said that kits are available too!
These fabrics are all by Northcott and available at the shop.
Chris asked each of us to make a project form a particular book.  Above, Marilyn shows us this adorable bag that she made.
This is a close-up of the bag.  Don't you love it!  So cute.  I can't wait to see what other projects come from this book.  I think one of the upcoming events planned is a trunk show of all our projects from this book.

The calendar should be out soon.  The shop is slowly getting things back to normal.  Classes will be limited and special distance seating required.

Chris asks that you, "please join us for the BOM, Bees, and regular classes.  If you feel you are not quite ready to return to sessions yet, you may stop in at the shop and pick up your project, instructions, kits, notions, etc.  Or, we can send it to you.  Don't forget, our new hours for June are Monday-Thursday, 10-5; Friday and Saturday, 10-2.  The phone number for the shop is 616-785-3357, or you can email Chris at BrownAttic@aol.com.

HAVE YOU BEEN DOING ANY QUILTING LATELY?

Hello Quilters!  Today I wanted to show you what I've been doing.  I know it's not much, but I have had a difficult time focusing during this pandemic.  You can see this wall hanging at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  You will have to stop in at the shop or call Chris or email her for information about this quilt.  I took everything back to the shop and forgot to write down the information.  It was really easy to make and kept me focused.

I tried different quilting on each cat block so I'll show them to you here.

I'm also working on this applique table runner.  Hope to finish it as soon as I decide how to quilt it. Any suggestions?
And I made this hot plate holder for a friend.  She said she loves these colors.

So that's what I've been doing.  It's been difficult to go to my dark sewing room when it is so beautiful outside.  The weather is fantastic here in Michigan and everything is growing so fast, it's difficult to stay up with the weeding.  Hope you are all having a wonderful summer.  Stay healthy and stay safe.

Don't forget, the Attic Window Quilt Shop is open for business!  Chris said, "Please join us for the BOM, Bees, and regular classes.  If you feel you are not quite ready to return to sessions yet, you may stop in at the shop and pick up your project, instructions, kits, notions, etc. Or, we can send it to you.  Don't forget, our new hours for June are Monday-Thursday, 10-5; Friday and Saturday, 10-3.  The phone number for the shop is 616-785-3357. MARJORIE IN UTAH HAS BEEN BUSY

Well, I'm trying new blogger and this is not fun.  I don't understand why they have to change things.  I can't find out how I can move to the left to start my paragraph.  Who knows what else I will discover that I don't know how to do.  What a mess!!!!!

Anyway, above is a picture that Marjorie In Utah sent.  This is what she says:

"I hope life is getting back to semi-normal in Michigan.  It has been crazy here in Southern Utah.  I just finished this top.  I am not going to add all the applique to the border.  Just do a green flange and black and white binding.
This quilt appeared in Quilt Sampler magazine in 2004.  I originally made three of this pattern.  I did all the hand applique  and binding!  The first one I made for my granddaughter.  She took it everywhere....even on the football team bus!  She was the place kicker for the boys football team her senior year.
Now I need to find another UFO to get completed.  I have several  dating back to the 1980's.  It is amazing how starting something new is exciting but interest wanes as we see a new idea!
I hope you are well and able to get back to your Bee groups.  Will look forward to seeing all the new projects in Michigan.
Stay safe
Marjorie"

Thank you Marjorie.  It is always such a pleasure to hear from you and see the beautiful quilts that you are making.  Good for you staying busy during this difficult time. I know what you mean about being excited when you start a new project and then interest waning. I bet all the readers do!

A ROOSTER TO CROW ABOUT

A reader of the Attic Window Blog or the Attic Window Quilt Shop Facebook page, saw the beautiful quilt by Melonie, and decided to send me pictures of her own work. This is what Marion Murray had to say, "I have become addicted to collage and love Melonie's house collage.  I have attached pictures of three of my collages. The rooster is an Emily Taylor design, made from vintage neckties and vintage material."

Marion, this rooster is fantastic.  I can't believe it is made of old ties!  How clever.
Marion also sent this picture of a bag and pillow.  This is what she has to say about them, "The bag is made with Laura Hiene fabric.  I drew the sewing machine and made it into a tote bag.  The elephant pillow is something I just made up."  Marion signed her email "Marion Murray, staying indoors in Vermont."

These are stunning. Thank you so much Marion for sharing your beautiful work with us!

And don't forget the Attic Window Quilt Shop is Open for business! This is what Chris said, "Please join us for the BOM, Bees, and regular classes.  If you feel you are not quite ready to return to sessions yet, you may stop in at the shop and pick up your project, instructions, kits, etc., or we can send it to you!  Don't forget, our new hours for June are Monday-Thursday, 10-5; Friday and Saturday, 10-3.  The phone number for the shop is 616-785-3357. THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP IS OPEN

Hello Quilters! I have some news from Chris at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  She says, "Please join us for the BOM, Bees and regular classes.  If you feel you are not quite ready to return to sessions yet, you may stop in at the shop and pick up your project, instructions, kits, etc. or we can send it to you!  Don't forget, our new hours for June are Monday - Thursday, 10-5; Friday and Saturday, 10-3.  The phone number for the shop is 616-785-3357. Or you can email Chris at BrownAttic@aol.com.

Now to the above picture!  I have some wonderful quilts to show you.  Above, Kathy Bauman shows us her beautiful hand appliqued quilt!

Kathy B. also embroidered this cute little quilt.
This stunning quilt was hand appliqued by Kari R.  Chris said that they have the book at the shop.  I made a smaller version years ago and searched an hour in my sewing room trying to find the book so I could give you the name of it.  Couldn't find it.  I'll ask Chris tomorrow and let you know in my next post.  I love what Kari did and am now thinking that maybe I should make a large quilt like hers.  I love applique.

Melonie did this awesome wall hanging.  As you check out the details on the following pictures, note that all the pieces were hand cut and then fused down on the background to form a design or a collage. Then Melonie did straight line quilting.  Chris said, "Wish everyone could see this closeup.  It is beautiful!"

A special thank you to Kathy B, Kari R, and Melonie for sharing their beautiful quilts with us!

Remember!  Support your local quilt shop!  We want to go to the Attic Window Quilt Shop and sew with friends!  I miss everyone!
