QUEEN SHIRLEY GETS HER BLOCKS

QU
The Bees In The Attic Bee Hive met Wednesday at the Attic Window Quilt Shop. Above, Queen Shirley looks at the blocks that the Hive members made for her this past month.  This is going to make a beautiful quilt.  Shirley gave us the red fabrics and some of the white/cream fabrics.  We added the blues and whites to make our blocks.  It is amazing how all the blocks look so nice together.  Can't wait to see as a quilt!
Charity is the Queen Bee next month.  Above, she shows us the block that we are to make for her.  Charity asks us to use the fabric in the kits she distributed to make the Coins In The Fountain block from the book Irish Chain Quilts by Melissa Corry.  This looks like an easy block to make for which I am thankful during this busy time of year.

ATTENTION:  The Bee Hive will not meet in December.  We have moved our regular monthly meeting to Jan. 4, 2017 and then we will meet again as usual on the 4th Wednesday of the month, Jan. 25.  MARK your calendar now!

QUILT BLOCK COOKBOOK HAS MEETING

Above Cathy explains how to do the curve piecing on the block we will be working on this month.  I'll show you that block when the day group meets Wednesday.  I have to admit, I cheated and appliqued my curve square in this block.

Kits for this cute little guy are still available at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Only $5!

DRESSING FOR THE HOLIDAYS?

When I was at the Attic Window Quilt Shop the other day, I noticed some Christmas decorations on the shelves.  I love this snowman with the plaid background.
This smiling snowmen table runner is made of wool.  So cute.

In fact, after visiting the shop, I decided when I got home that I should do some decorating myself.  I hung the above reindeer wall hanging that I made a few years ago.
On another wall I hung this wall hanging, also made several years ago.

And I couldn't resist hanging this one block that I made.  How about you?  Are you dressing your house for the Holidays?

There are so many new patterns and ideas at the Attic Window Quilt Shop you should stop in today.  While there you will want to take advantage of the Special Deal going on.

Have you signed up for Craft Days at the Attic Window Quilt Shop?  There are two different times you can come:  Saturday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Dec. 2.  Call the shop to register and secure your place.   Above are the items we made last year.  Aren't they adorable!  I'm not sure what we will be making this year.  Chris keeps it a surprise until the day we start crafting.  I've attended every year and know from experience, you will not want to miss this.
This picture was taken last year of Marti working on her cute table topper!  As I recall, my daughter snatched up the one I made as soon as she saw it.

A GREAT IDEA FOR CHRISTMAS GIFT

Does this look like a grocery bag to you?  I fell in love with this Heather Bailey Folding Tote pattern the minute Chris showed it to me.  I left the Attic Window Quilt Shop that day with pattern in hand and a song in my heart.  I had to make some of these.
I made this first one in an afternoon from fabric I had at home.  Check out that big pocket on the side!
It is lined too!  The above picture shows you the lining I used.
And once it is all done you just fold it up into a little pouch.
So, the next day I ran up to the Attic Window Quilt Shop and purchased some of the new fabrics.
Since I was going to be at Happy Scrappers the next day, I waited and made this Tote while there.
 Isn't this fabric beautiful!
Above you can see the lining I used.

This tuck-away shopping system would make wonderful Christmas gifts. The pattern also includes a Tote Sash (for strapping multi totes together) and a pouch or wallet (great for those coupons).  Can't you just see it folded into it's pouch sitting in a loved one's car, ready to be grabbed just before running into the market?  Give the shop a call and place your order for this wonderful pattern (I say place your order, because I bet there are no patterns left because I've been telling everyone about it).

MAYBE PIECING ISN'T SO BAD

Not too long ago I complained to you about my struggles with piecing this table runner.  I think it only fair that I tell you that it is now complete and really is the piece I'm most proud of.  By careful piecing, thoroughly reading instructions, and being patient, this table runner was square and a dream to quilt.
Above is another section of the table runner.
Adrienne was a sweetie and held up the table runner for me to take a picture.  You can read my previous post about it here.  This table runner is from the book The Trendy Table and you can get it at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  You'll love this book because it it loaded with a multitude of beautiful table runners.  I'm sure you'll find one you have to make.  It made me realize that piecing isn't so bad.

A TUTE IN PICTURES

Check out this cute little thread catcher.  That's what I call it, but Saturday when the Happy Scrappers met at the Attic Window Quilt Shop, Adrienne referred to them as little boxes that she was making as gifts.  She said she was going to stuff them with various items: candy, lotions, etc.  What a clever idea!  The last little box I made like this was slightly different, so I took lots of pictures as Adrienne made her box.
First she started with two squares of fabric, and a square of batting (all the same size).  She sandwiched them together (pillowcase fashion) and did some quilting.
Then she folded the piece together like above and sewed the side seams.
Then she cut the extra piece of fabric off and turned the piece inside out and sewed the seams again (French seam fashion).
Then her box looked like this.
I like the idea of the French seams.  Above Adrienne shows us what the inside seam looks like.
And here she shows us what the outside seam looks like.  Looks so nice and neat!

A special Thank You to Adrienne for allowing me to interrupt her sewing and take the pictures.  You can get the full instructions for two different ways to make these cute little boxes by going to Connie Kresin at Freemotion by the River.  You can also get to her blog by clicking on her site on the sidebar.

HAPPY SCRAPPERS AND TEASERS

The Happy Scrappers met Saturday at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above, Nancy shows us the quilt she is working on.  This is beautiful.  Nancy always chooses such lovely color combinations.
Marilyn worked on this beautiful coin purse.  Not quite finished yet, but it is going to be lovely.
Adrienne worked on this improve quilt.  I love her bright fabrics with the black and white fabrics.  She also worked on a thread catcher which she plans on giving as gifts.  I'll show you her little tute on making those later this week.
And this is what I worked on.  I'm not telling you about it now, but stay tuned for information and a reveal later this week.  You'll want to make some of these as gifts for Christmas!

PROGRESS AND NEW FABRIC

When I stopped in at the Attic Window Quilt Shop earlier this week, I found Julie B. working on her English Paper Piecing Millefiori quilt.  I had to take a picture of this.  It is growing!  And it's going to be beautiful!
I also got to see some of the new fabrics that have arrived.  Above is Hop Skip and Jump by Moda.  The shop also has the Charm Packs, Layer Cakes, and Jelly Rolls in this line.
Above is also by Moda.  It is their Country Road line.

Stop in at the shop this weekend and see all that's new in at the shop.  As for me, I'm going to take in the Jingle Bell Hop.  You can read all about it below.

HAPPY SCRAPPERS SHOW N TELL

The Happy Scrappers met Wednesday at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above, Adrienne shows us the doll quilt that she just finished.  She said that since we last met she has made about six of these quilts that will go to Santa Clause Girls who wraps them around the dolls that are given to needy children at Christmas.  Adrienne who is a member of the West Michigan Quilters' Guild (WMQG), said that the Guild gives about 450 dolls away each year.  The Guild also donates wrapping time.
Peggy spread out some of the blocks she has been working on so she could see what fabrics she still needs to add to her quilt.  She is using Kaffe fabrics.
Paula worked on her cross stitch project.  She did show us this stunning find that she picked up at a second hand shop.  Sorry that you can't tell it from this picture, but this quilt looks brand new! And guess what....
She paid $3.50 for it.  Yes, that is three dollars and fifty cents.  What a deal!
