NEW AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

New Bag at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Marilyn made this adorable bag and will be teaching a class so you can make it too.
Above you can see the nice pocket on the inside.  This is the Trifecta Zip Bag.  The pattern comes in 6 sizes and is a must have!  Watch for the upcoming class.
There is also some new fabric at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Marilyn said that the Civil War group should love these fabrics.  These are Rivera Rose by Renee Nanneman for Andover Fabrics.
Be sure to stop in at the shop soon and pick some up.

A BEAUTIFUL WOOL WALL HANGING

When at the Attic Window Quilt Shop last week, Jeannette Mansfield stopped in to get some wool fabric.  She also had this stunning quilt with her so she could match the browns in it. It is so beautiful I wanted to share it with you. so I asked if I could take a picture.
A closer look for you.
Another close-up.  Thank you Jeannette for letting me share your lovely quilt.  It sure makes me want to try my hand at wool.

HAVE YOU TRIED MITERED CORNERS?

Misti, who frequents the Attic Window Quilt Shop, sent me a picture of her latest finish.  She said this was her first attempt at mitered corners.  She did a perfect job!  I think using a fabric with stripes makes it more difficult.  Great job Misti.  Thanks for sharing.
And what is this, you ask.  It is proof.  Proof of life.  Proof of the Almighty Creator. Proof that Spring is on its way.  I was picking up sticks in my yard today and saw that my Iris were peeking their little heads toward the sunshine.  What a wonderful day!  Hope your weekend was great too!

MARY HAS GONE TO THE DOGS

We had some show-n-tell today when the Snap Bag class was in session at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above is Mary P.s Gone To The Dogs Quilt.  Isn't it adorable!
Above, Mary shows us her backing fabric.  For a relatively new quilter, Mary did a fantastic job of applique and quilting this quilt herself!
This is a closeup of one of her dogs.  The pattern is from the book Happy Quilts by Antonie Alexander.  You did a great job Mary!

The Doll Bee was also meeting today with all their various body parts.  What a hoot.  I love seeing all the beautiful dolls these women make.
Those making the Snap Bag got down to business.  Above, Mary, left, and Barb cut fabric. These bags are not only quick and easy to make, but you can make them in any size.
Shirley started quilting fabric for her bag.
We made a small bag first.  That way we could get it finished and know how to make more bags in any size we want. Above from left to right, Barb, Shirley (showing us the inside of her bag), and Mary show us their bags.
This is a closeup of the bags the women made today.  A couple of them chose to box the corners.
Diana was busy working today so she didn't get very far making her bag.  Had to show you her beautiful fabric and that she's almost finished.

MAKING BLOCKS GALORE!

I had hoped to go to the Embroidery Class at the Attic Window Quilt Shop today, but I'm waiting for the cable guy to arrive.  You know how that goes.  So while waiting, I've been making some blocks and getting ready to go to a Snap Bag class at the Shop tomorrow. Are you participating in Pat Sloan's Out Of This World BOM?  Above is block number three that I made today.
Actually we are to make four of these blocks, so I've been busy.
Above are two of block 3 along with blocks 1 and 2.  I'm eager to see how this quilt goes together.
I also made block 5 from the book Garden Sampler BOM.  I love all these flower blocks.  Hope you are enjoying your quilting this week!

YOU TOO CAN LEARN EMBROIDERY

The Beginning Embroidery group met at the Attic Window Quilt Shop last week.  Marilyn (standing on right) is the teacher.  Wait until you see what she can do.  But first let me show you something.
This is a beginning embroidery class.  The students are asked to bring a quilt sandwich. much like a crazy quilt block. This is what they learn and practice on.
This is another piece of practice sandwich.  I just love all these beautiful stitches.
And look what you can do once you get proficient at embroidery.  This is a pillow teacher Marilyn made.
This is a closeup of one of the beautiful flowers that Marilyn made.
 And this is another.
And this is another.  I'm so impressed by what Marilyn does that I hope to take her beginning class.  Of course, I know I won't be able to make this in her class, but if I don't start with a beginning class I'll never be able to make it.  If you are interested, call the shop and register.  The class meets on Wednesdays at the shop.

NEW AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

This stunning work by Kathy B. caught my eye when at the Attic Window Quilt Shop yesterday.  It is all wool.  Not only do the flowers look real, but that mason jar vase it awesome.  Take a look when you go into the shop.  You'll love this!
This new line of fabric caught my eye too.  These are Folio Basics by Color Principle from Henry Glass & Co.
Take a look at this fabric which is also in the line.  Too cute!
This is also new.  It is Bed of Roses by Laundry Basket from Andover Fabrics.
This cute little Doggie Bag Coin Purse is also new at the shop.  It is a Cut Loose Press.
I couldn't resist and bought some fat quarters.

HAPPY DAY WITH HAPPY SCRAPPERS

It was so wonderful today to get out of the house and spend the day with the Happy Scrappers at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Lots of talk and laughter and sewing.  We had some nice show-n-tell too.  Above Mary W. shows us one of the three quilts that she made for charity.
This is another quilt that Mary made for charity.  I love how she uses these wonderful 30s fabrics.  They are so soft and soothing.
This is the back of her quilt.
Mary also made this quilt for charity.  She has been very busy this past month.
This is the back of the above quilt.
Like I say, we had some laughter too.  Janalee, Cathy, and I got to talking about how many steps we had in so far that day.  Mary asked us questions, and I think we inspired her.  A little later I caught her walking through the shop.  She said she was getting her steps in.  She has a path through the shop that gets her 200 steps in each time she follows it. Wow! You go girl.
Cathy had some show-n-tell too.  Above is her latest finish.
This close-up allows you to see the quilting that she did herself.  Great job!
During the day while Janalee, Mary, Diana and I worked away on sewing but not finishing anything, Cathy made this cute top.  And...
She got busy and made another one.  She said this one was too narrow and that she was going to put another row on it before quilting it. She also said she was going to donate these quilts to charity once they are quilted and bound. Way to go Cathy.

TAKING MARY'S ADVICE

Hello Quilters!  Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  I had my great grandchild for a day, then went to his basketball game the next day, so I haven't had much time to sew.  However, I decided to take some advice from a recent blog post . It is about the Charity Group at the Attic Window Quilt Shop. I had been thinking about Mary's words that day, so I pulled out my tub of quilt tops.  After digging through the 17 tops, I decided to finish this one first and give it to charity.  It is small, 36" X 36", just the right size for a child.  And, I had the perfect backing for it, one that I thought a young child would like.

I had two pieces of fabric that someone had donated to the Charity Group, so I sewed them together for the backing.  Aren't they cute!
The binding went on nicely too.  It is all sewn by machine.  I've been trying to increase my skills in that area.  Doesn't look too bad when you look at it from the back, which is usually where my problem is.  Don't forget, the Charity Group is always looking for quilts to donate.
