MODERN BLOCK MONDAY - BLOCK SIX

It’s Modern Monday Block from Forty Two Quilts.  Above is block number six.  I thought this interesting.  This is what the block looked like in natural light.
This is what the block looked like under a florescent light in my sewing room.  The colors look more natural and the gray not as dark.  But I like the vibrant blue background that I got in the natural light.  Go figure.  Later hop over to Alamosa Quilter and see Lynn's block.

Don’t forget to look at the sidebar for all the fun classes being offered this week at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above is a picture of JD’s peppermint Tabletopper.  This class is scheduled for Wednesday.  Carolyn has some interesting classes lined up.  Be sure and check them out.    Sampler is Saturday.  Does everyone have their blocks ready?  Don’t forget to bring your tool!
Molly Flanders blog has a great tutorial for a Dresden pincushion.  I don’t usually need any more pincushions, but this one is darling.

TWILLING AND REDWORK SAMPLES

Last week I took a picture of the Twilling project that Barb David made for next year’s Twilling club.  However, the light wasn’t right and you couldn’t really see the Twilling, so I’ll get another picture the next time I visit the shop.  I can show you this Twilling pillow that Barb made.  It is also at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Wouldn’t this look perfect in your home?
This is the project for next year’s Redwork Club.  I love these unique Nutcrackers. Barb said she had them made especially for the Club, so you’ll have to sign up for the club if you want these darling patterns.
This is a close up of one of the blocks.  Be sure and look for dates and times in the upcoming newsletter.  Or, stop in at the Attic Window and sign up for the club.
This is another project by Barb.  She does such beautiful work.  This Little Boy Blue is from the book Work and Play by Leisure Arts .   The designs are by Dolores Storm of Lakadaisies.  I love that Barb used the blue thread for this wallhanging.
This is a close up of one of the blocks.  Barb hand quilted the quilt too.  Stop in at the shop and pick up the pattern and get started on this stunning project now.

If you like dolls like I do or if you have a small child who loves dolls, you’ll want to get one of these darling free patterns from Lille Mae’s Crafts and get busy sewing.  There are even instructions on how to make your pattern child safe.  Start now and you can make lots of these cuties for Christmas presents.  These are presents that will be loved forever.

A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME...

This is Colleen’s latest quilt.  I couldn’t wait to show it to you.  She will be teaching a class on how to make this Rose of Sharon quilt.  The pattern is by Sharon Pederson from That Patchwork Place.

Below are close-up shots of the individual blocks.

I fell in love with this quilt the moment I saw it.  I love Colleen’s choice of batik fabrics.  She used the raw edge method of appliqué and machine stitched the edges.  It is a stunning quilt.  Watch for upcoming class dates in the next Attic Window Quilt Shop Newsletter, due out soon.

Quilt Cook Keep has a nice tutorial.  This Feeling Fallish Mug Rug is perfect for this time of year, and so easy to make!

KNOTTY GIRLS MEET AT ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

The Knotty Girls Stitching Bee met tonight at the Attic Window Quilt Shop and as usual it proved to be a fun filled event.  I had to take a picture of this adorable kitten.  He is on a wool quilt/wallhanging that Sherri is making.
Above Sherri demonstrates how to make a certain stitch on her wool project.
JoAnn shows us the wallhanging she finished in time for Halloween.  Isn’t it cute!
Dee is working on an autumn stitchery that will be a wallhanging.  Someone said that it was a good idea that she decided on making it into a wallhanging instead of a pillow.  “People drool on pillows,” the woman said. (I never thought about that but I can certainly see that happening in my house!)
Dee is also finishing this ABC quilt.  I’m sorry I couldn’t get a better picture with more contrast to show up her excellent work!
One last item I couldn’t resist showing you.  How much are you willing to pay for a ball of yarn?  How much do you think this one cost?  Note the size compared to the Christmas light.  When we were told $85 we all gave a collective gasp!  It is Oiviuk yarn and is made from the Muskox, an animal in Alaska.  I’ll have to Google that one.  I’ve never heard of the animal, have you?  This is a little beyond my budget but it is wonderfully soft and I'd love to have a scarf made of this.

You have to go see this block that Geta has to show you.  I love it and hope to try it soon.  Check it out at Geta’s Quilting Studio

MODERN BLOCK MONDAY - BLOCK FIVE

It’s Modern Monday Block from Forty Two Quilts.  Above is block number five.  Once again , the dark fabric on my computer looks black or navy blue.  It is really a dark charcoal grey.   I have a full day tomorrow so am posting early.  I’m sure if you go over to Forty Two Quilts on Monday block number six will be posted.  I can’t wait.  These are so much fun.  Don't forget to hop over to Alamosa Quilter and see Lynn's block.  I love her modern style.

Don’t forget to look at the sidebar for all the fun classes being offered this week.  I notice Lee Ann has a bag class Saturday.   I looked at her samples in the Attic Window Quilt Shop, and wished I didn’t already  have plans.  Taking a class from Lee Ann is definitely on my list.
Wee Folk Art has a wonderful tutorial for a poinsettia garland.  You’ll want to make this one for the holidays.

STRANGE HAPPENINGS AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

Last night was Boo Night at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  If you missed it, you missed a lot of laughs, Make It and Take It fun, and great discounts on your purchases (most pulled 20% out of the treat bag).  You can’t imagine the whoops and laughs that appeared when Cruella De Ville walked into the shop.
This clown gave us lots of reasons to laugh!  What a darling outfit.
Isn’t this outfit the cutest!
I’m not sure if she was Pippy Longstockings or not, but she does have a different shoe for a different foot.
A police woman stopped by.  She said, “Me and Peanut are on duty.”
Could Robbie look any more hippy?
Take a look at her slave ring.  Where on earth did she get that thing?
Clown really got into the Make It and Take It project.
Curella can’t let go of her cigarette as she sews her Make It and Take It project.  What a hoot!
I’m not sure who had more fun, the customers or the workers.  I want to thank Chris and the others for putting together this fun event!   Be sure to mark your calendar for the next great sale at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  You’ll be sorry if you miss it.  (Edit:  I just noticed that my blog is not updating.  Don't have a clue what is happening.)

STEPHANIE IS THE BEST!

My dear friend Stephanie from Peas In A Pod sent me this lovely block.  She knows how much I like applique and said that she thought of me when she saw this at a recent quilt show.  I love, love, love this.  It is reverse applique and I admire its maker.

This is a closer look at the block.  The blue background square is just a little over 5 ½ inches.  The inside green square is just 2 ½ inches.  Can you imagine doing all this reverse applique and embroidery on just a 2 ½ inch square?  I cannot get over the beautiful work.  I can’t see any stitches and the circles are so round and even.  Whoever did this is an expert!  Stephanie said I could do anything I wanted with the block.  Her suggestions included – put it on a pillow, a purse front, in a quilt.  However, I am on a search for the perfect picture frame because I have just the spot for it on a wall in my new bathroom.  Thank you so much Stephanie for such a thoughtful gift!

Alamosa Quilter has a nice tutorial for a Trash Bag.  I thought I’d make up a few of these as Christmas Gifts. I know.  Sounds funny...a trash bag for Christmas.  But I could put a roll of tall bags in it, or fill it with cookies, or a stack of crochet dishcloths, or applique napkins.  There are any number of ideas to go inside these little bags.  I want one for my car.
