ARE YOU DOING SOMETHING GOOD FOR SOMEONE?

For several months I have been trying to take a picture of the Wheelchair Quilters who meet at the Attic Window Quilt Shop to make charity quilts. Each month one or two of the women were absent.  I finally gave up on getting ALL of the participants together and took a picture anyway.  They are an awesome group and I wanted to honor them.  Above, left to right, holding up some of their quilts to be donated are Mary T., Pat A., Laura B., Fran W., Nancy P., Lee Anne K., Yvonne B.
This is a pile of recently finished quilts to be donated.  The Wheelchair Quilters was started several years ago by Barb David.  This group was near and dear to Barb’s heart and she was concerned that the group continue when she discovered she would be leaving us.  Mary T. promised Barb that she would keep the group going, and she is doing an excellent job of it.
Above are some of the members working away on quilts that will go to such places as Hospice, The Veteran’s Facility, the Pregnancy Resource Center, DeVos Children’s Hospital.   Mary said that the group is open to suggestions as to where to donate quilts.  It doesn’t even have to be an organization.  It could be a person.  Lee Anne said that a quilt that her husband made went to a woman in another state.
Above, Laura and Mary T. are working on quilts.  Mary said the quilts may be made in various sizes because they are given to various organizations.  Wheelchair quilts can be 40” X 50”, but some are larger 50” X 56”.  The group would love for you to join them in making these quilts. As Mary said, "It's good to get together and do something good for someone."  You can come to the group and sew, or drop off your donations at the shop anytime.  The group will also accept donations of fabric and batting.  I know I recently found some quilts that I knew I would never finish and donated the blocks and fabric to them.  If you drop a donation off at the shop, just make sure there is a note on it saying what it is for.
