DANCING WHILE YOU QUILT MAKES YOU SMILE

When the Happy Scrappers met this past Wednesday at the Attic Window Quilt Shop, we started off the day dancing.  Well, who can help but dance when the song “Happy” comes on the radio?  Above, left, Adrienne stops her cutting to dance.  Top right, Lee Anne is just coming into the class room, and stops to dance.  And Rosa arrives dancing as she comes through the door.  What a way to start the day!

In no time we got down to work.  Above, Yvonne shows us this Lil Twister quilt.  Yvonne said she did the sewing, but Rosa cut out the pattern.  These sweet ladies are giving this darling quilt to charity.

Yvonne also made this adorable paper pieced block.  She said she gets one block done each time we meet.  “At this rate it will take me over a year to complete.”

Isn’t this stunning!  Vickie S. made the fabric for this on her embroidery machine, then made this pumpkin.  It is an OESD Freestanding Pumpkin Patch pattern.

We had a little tutorial during the day too.  Rosa showed us the perfect way to hem jeans.

This is how her jeans looked once finished.  Can you tell they have been hemmed?  Thanks Rosa for this great tutorial!

Catherine M. was busy sewing too.

She was working on this Aunt Millie’s Garden block.

And  she showed us this adorable blue bird that she made for a friend.  She was thinking about putting it in a frame.

 Cathy M. (different person) was busy making these blocks.  I think she said she got some of this fabric while in Japan.  I forget the name of the pattern, but it makes large flowers.  I can’t wait to see more of this quilt.

How often do you clean your machine?  Most of us are guilty of not taking care of this task often enough.  Let’s face it…we’d rather sew!  However, when the thread on Adrienne’s machine kept breaking, she decided it was time.  Ugh!  Will you find this in YOUR machine?

 Task completed, Adrienne shows us this large ruler bag that she made during the day.  Look…she even made a pocket large enough to hold her cutting mat!

Rosa was busy making pillowcases for her family for Christmas.  This is how it works…granddaughter picks out the fabric for the various members of the family, Grandmother makes the pillowcases (even one for herself), and they are given by granddaughter as a gift.  Pretty slick, don’t you think?

See this?  Take a look at Catherine’s picture above.  She has hers around her neck.  Judi A. gave each of us this darling scissors keeper.  Catherine said she is always looking for her scissors; now if she can just remember they are around her neck!  Thanks Judi!   That was so thoughtful of you.

 

Judi A. was busy making more of her Stripe & Solids QAYG blocks.  Peggy was there too, working on that same quilt, however, my camera battery died and I couldn’t get a picture.  Next time Peggy.
