HAVE YOU TRIED QAYG?

The women arrived Monday at the Quilt As You Go (QAYG) class at the Attic Window Quilt Shop ready to get to work.  Our goal for this class was to complete two blocks and connect them.  Once you know how to do that, you can easily create the rest of the quilt at home (or during Happy Scrappers).  Once you learn this technique you can easily create pillows, table toppers, or bags with the knowledge that once you put your project together you will be finished because it is also quilted!  I previously posted a picture of my QAYG quilt here.

 First, students started placing their scraps onto the batting size of their choice.  Above is Yvonne’s start.

 Sharon was off to a good start too.

Vickie S. decided to stretch her skills and step out of her box.  She made a wonky block!

In no time, progress is made.  Above you can see how Rosa’s block has developed.

Once her block was to size, Donna started quilting her sandwich. (The backing has been added)

Sharon decided to use wavy lines in her quilting.

Judi shows us her quilted block.  She added a unique touch to the center block!

Above, Sharon shows us her connected blocks.  All Sharon’s fabrics had dots.  I think that is what is so nice about this technique, you can use any fabric.  It doesn’t have to be stripes.

Above is another view of Vickie's block.  Each block created today by these students was fantastic.  I hope to get to see their finished quilts. It was a fun day and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.
