HAPPY SCRAPPERS ARE HAVING FUN!

We had a wonderful time this past Saturday at the Happy Scrappers meeting at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Despite the rain, sleet, and ice, we had a nice turn out.  Above, Pam (new to the group) shows us this beautiful quit made from all scraps.  From what I understand, this is just a fourth of the quilt.  She plans on making three more like this and making a big quilt. I'm eager to see it!

Above, Sonie shows us one of the blocks she is working on.

And check out this quilt that Sonie made.  This is her first quilt that she has quilted herself on her new quilting machine.  It's fantastic.

Above are close-ups of her work.  Can you believe this is her first time!!!  Great job, Sonie!

Lee Anne shows up what she is working on.  What beautiful fabric she has chosen!
Jane shows us the border she is working on.  It is for a panel.

This is the panel.  What a beautiful quilt she is making!!

Nancy was busy making these squares for the quilt she is working on.
Check out this pile she still has to sew together.  The pattern is Voysey. I can't wait to see this quilt finished.

And this is what I worked on.  Anyone recognize the blocks?  Years ago I belonged to a group of quilters from around the world.  I have blocks from the Netherlands, Australia, UK, and various places in the US.  I received so many blocks that I decided to make two quilts. I'll show you that one when I get it put together.

The Happy Scrappers meet again on Saturday, April 29th.  All are welcome.  You can spend a whole day socializing, having fun, shopping, and sewing.  All for just $5.

The Attic Window Quilt Shop is open Monday-Friday, 10-5, and Saturday, 10-4.  Hope to see you there.

ISOLATION IS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH!

Hello Quilters! I hope everyone had a great weekend. It snowed again here in Michigan, and that meant that I spent time in my sewing/quilting room. What fun! One of the things I did was decide what I was going to sew when I attend the Happy Scrappers at the Attic Window Quilt Shop this coming Saturday. I found some blocks from 2009 and decided I would use them to make them into a quilt for charity. These blocks were sent to me from around the world. I belonged to a group back then (can’t remember the name of the group) and we made blocks for each person in the group. I have blocks from Australia, the Netherlands, the UK, and a number from various places in the US. As you can see, one of the blocks above was from the UK and the other from Tennessee. What a fun group.

We hope you will join us Happy Scrappers this Saturday. I just read that social isolation is as harmful to your health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Now, don’t do that to yourself. Come join us for a fun day of sewing and socializing. This group is so helpful and sharing. Not only do they share ideas, but Adrienne brought in a big tote of scraps for us to dig through and use in a project we may be working on. You don’t have to use scraps. Maybe you have a quilt you are trying to finish. That’s fine. We don’t require you use scraps. We just want you to join us for a fun time.

We meet the last Saturday of every month from 10-4. The cost is just $5. You can bring your lunch, or run out to one of the many restaurants or fast food places near by. No need to register for the day, just surprise us and show up ready to sew and socialize!

Hope to see you there.

FREE GIFTS AT SHOP HOP

Don't forget that the Shop Hop is this weekend.  Show your passport at the Attic Window Quilt Shop and receive a Cozy Block Kit, which includes a free pattern for both the 3" and 12" block above.  Also included in the kit is the bottle cozy and the fabrics for the 3" block.  What a deal!!!

This picture shows you another way you can make this block.  Chris said she took the 12" size and added four corners to it.  I'm not sure I understand what she did to get this cute block, but be sure to ask her when you visit the Attic Window Quilt Shop on Saturday or next week.

SHOP HOP BEGINS TODDAY!

I'll tell you about the Shop Hop in a minute, but first look at this picture that our friend in Utah sent for her Attic Window Quilt Shop fiends to see.  This is her latest finish and this is what she said:

" Hi!  I went to quilt guild retreat first of month.  I finally finished this!

Was a job!  I don’t sew well when distracted by fun and laughing.  I had a lot of corrections to make.  The fabric is by Stonehenge and is called Heavy Metal!  Sure is brown!  I usually don’t do brown.

We are getting lots of rain this week and record snow in mountains.  I got a call from water district telling me the bridge to our house may be washed out tonight!  Lucky for us we are not there now.  We are at our house in town.

Hope you are well and your weather has turned to spring.

I love the table topper you posted several weeks ago.  The bright crumb fabric cut into triangles and set with white to make a big hexagon.  Need to make some crumb fabric and try it.
Take care, stay well, keep posting and Happy quilting."

Thank you Marjorie for sending the picture.  We love seeing what our friends are doing!
