ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP AT WEST MICHIGAN QUILTER'S GUILD UPCOMING SHOW

When recently at the Attic Window Quilt Shop, I ran into Linda Larson.  She made this beautiful Lonesome Pine wall hanging as a sample for the shop.  It is awesome.  I like the way it is quilted too.
I also saw a pile of quilts just returned from the quilter, waiting to be bound.  Barb David had made this as a sample for the shop.
This cute Storybook Snowman BOM was started by Barb David and finished by Pat Anisko.
This is a close-up of one of the blocks.  There was an old Snow woman who lived in a shoe...  So cute!
This rail fence was made as a sample for the store.  Love those bright colors.
Barb Olson made this beautiful quilt as a sample for the shop.
This was made during last year's Shop Hop.  All these quilts were quilted by Barb Huster.  Chris is busy adding the binding.  They will be on display in her booth during the West Michigan Quilter's Guild show is October 5 and 6 at the Delta Plex, 9-5 each day.  You won't want to miss this show!!

QUILT SHOW IN MARSHALL

Saturday was Fall Harvest Quilt Show in Marshall, Michigan.  This show is sponsored by the Cal-Co Quilters’ Guild and is a NQA certified judged show.  This first picture is what you see when you first walk in the door.  It won Best in Show.  Ted’s Quilt is by Sharon Brule. Joyce Rupp. (I don't know how I got Sharon's name in my notes. Thanks Linda for the correction.)
Circle of Life won second place.  It is by Lonnie Brewer.
I had to show this.  My Cozy Garden is by Cindy Mumford and she said she took a class from Mary Lou Hallenbeck.  It sure looks like a Mary Lou Weidman design to me (I love her style).  I wonder if Hallenbeck was her maiden name?
Isn’t this interesting!  Bloom Stash is by Linda Carlson.
Goat Stack is by Sally Puson.
Before You Meet The Handsome Prince is by Shirley Baker.  I hope I got everyone's name right.  I wrote standing up and when I got home I had difficulty reading my own writing.

Sue of The House That Love Built attended the show also and has pictures posted on her blog.  Her taste is so different from mine and I’m sure you’d find her pictures of interest.  Check it out here.    Sue is so right:  a good quilt show does get your inspirational juices flowing.

Mark your Calendar for these upcoming events:

Becky Goldsmith of Piece O’ Cake Designs will be lecturing Tuesday, September 27 at the evening meeting of the West Michigan Quilters’ Guild.  She will also be teaching two classes:  Whimsical Garden is the featured quilt for the Tuesday, Sept. 27 class from 9 – 4.  Picasso’s Garden is Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 9-4 and is a lesson in improvisational quilting for the quilter who doesn’t usually break the rules.  These classes sound like so much fun.  You can read more about it and find out how to sign up for the classes at the guild website here.

The Harvest Shop Hop is coming up.  Two big weekends!  Thursday, Sept. 22 through Sat., Sept. 24 and Thursday, Sept. 29 through Sat., Oct. 1.  A bus is available.  Fourteen shops are participating.  This is the tenth year for the shop hop and the shops are going all out to make it a special event.  The passport is only $10 and you will receive free patterns and a pin.

SAND, SURF & SUNSETS QUILT SHOW

The Sand, Surf & Sunsets Quilt Show was held at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Grand Haven, MI this past week. Since the Attic Window Quilt Shop was a vendor there, I had to go check things out. Persons who attended the show were greeted by this lovely lady. I couldn’t resist. Check out her wine glass and shoes. Isn’t she beautiful!

This Wallhanging is called Raccoons at Midnight and is by Nancy Einfeld. She did a fantastic job of capturing the look on the racoon’s faces.

This quilt is spectacular. It is called All Creatures Great and Small and is by Barb Bredemeier. She said it took her five years to complete the quilt.
.
This is a close up of one of the blocks. Check out that little mouse climbing the flower. Barb said she did all the appliqué, embroidery and quilting by hand. Wow! Barb you are fantastic!
.
There were so many beautiful quilts at this show. I wish I could have taken pictures of them all. The show is over now, but be sure and plan next year to attend this fabulous show.
.
Allie of Allie-Oops Sweet Happy Life has some has some nice vintage designs for you. Check it out.

IT'S SNOWING BUTTONS

Sew Cal Gal is hosting a Virtual Christmas Quilt show. People are to enter their quilt and tell about it. Above is the quilt I have entered. I made three of these wall hangings years ago, when I first decided to become a quilter, but really did not know too much about what I was doing. With exuberant enthusiasm (I know that is redundant) for my new hobby I decided to make my daughter and two daughters-in-law each a wall hanging. Little did I realize the difficulty involved. Actually, I think the worst and most unforgettable part was putting 200 buttons on each wall hanging. As I recall the directions said to take a hand full of buttons and toss them onto the wall hanging and then sew them down where they land, after all, these buttons were supposed to be snowflakes. Gads, do you realize how difficult and back breaking that was to do? Trust me, I think twice before I let my enthusiasm take hold today. Still, I kind of like these guys, don’t you? Click on over here (scroll down) and see all the other fantastic quilts in the show. And do it now as the show ends Dece. 25th. You’re sure to enjoy the view.

Fab Talk has a link to a cute tote.
