CALL A FRIEND AND MAKE HER DAY

When a friend calls to say, “come sew with me,” does it make you feel all tingly and excited?  That's how I felt when I got an call from Rosa to tell me she was at the shop and I should come sew with her.  I eagerly grabbed up my latest applique project and headed for the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  I can't tell you how happy I was that she called.  Sewing with friends is a day without stress.  It is like eating chocolate chips cookies all day and not having to worry about calories!  I was so glad I went too, because I got to see this darling bag that Rosa has been making.

This is a close-up of the bag.  Don’t you just love that Rosa used fabric from an old pair of jeans for the top of the bag?  It really sets off those bright colors.Rosa also worked on getting this fabric quilted in preparation for our Ruler Bag Class with Vickie S. this coming Saturday.  Have you signed up for that one?

Lee Anne was there sewing too.  She showed us this Jelly Roll quilt that she had finished.

Yvonne was there too and she showed us her Jelly Roll quilt too.  Both of these quilts are from the book Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam & Nicky Lintott.  The name of the pattern is Sparkling Gemstones. 

Nancy was there working on blocks for a church quilt.

Diana was there working on her “bird” blocks.  She said that she thinks she has enough for a bed runner.  I’m looking forward to seeing this!

What a wonderful way to spend the day with friends.  Call a friend to come sew with you and make her day!

UNEXPECTED HAPPINESS

When Rosa unexpectedly called me on Saturday to say she was at the Attic Window Quilt Shop sewing and would like some company, I gathered my hand quilting and joined her.  I found Rosa working on this owl quilt.  It is so cute.  She said that this is Eric’s quilt.  Eric is her son (a grown man) and he asked her to make a quilt for his friends who have been trying for years to have a baby and finally discovered one is on the way!  Eric came into the shop and picked out all of the fabrics himself.  He wants Rosa to put a few words on the back of the quilt…”We’ve been waiting for you.”  How cute!  This pattern is called Abby’s Owl Quilt.  I’m sorry but I forget to get the name of the publisher.  What a special young man Rosa has raised to want to select the fabrics and have a quilt made for his friends.

During the afternoon Rosa and I sewed and gabbed and visited with various customers.  When Melanie P. came in with this darling quilt, I had to take a picture!  She just calls the pattern Houses, and said she got it from Quilt Mania Magazine several years ago.

This is a close up of one of the house blocks.  I bet this was fun to make!

• Did you go check out the Row By Row Shop Hop website.  This is a must for anyone traveling this summer.  You won’t want to miss this.

HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT TEA TOWELS?

Last week Rosa and I met at the Attic Window Quilt Shop to do some sewing.  As usual sewing with Rosa made for a fun day.  We had intended to make the Forever Fresh wall hanging from the Applique With Attitude book from Piece O’ Cake Designs.  However, we got a little side tracked.

Rosa picked up some Tea Towels at the shop and made the Tea Towels With Attitude from the book.   This is the design she placed on one tea towel.  I love the colors she is using on this green towel.

Above Rosa is intent on finishing her towel.  I’m not sure how many towels she made as I left just before dinner, and Rosa was still working away.  What a trooper!

           BREAKFAST STITCH-IN – Friday, Nov. 23, from 8 a.m. - ? Stop in and sit and stitch and enjoy a light breakfast with quilting friends.
           CHRISTMAS CRAFT DAY – Saturday, Nov. 24, from 9-5.  Join us for a fun filled day of making some early Christmas gifts. Class is FREE. Three or four projects will be available. Kit fees will vary. Bring a dish to pass. Call and sign up as space is limited.
