NEW GROUP NEW PICTURES

On Wednesday, there was another group meeting at the Attic Window Quilt Shop while the Mod Squad was meeting.  I didn't get the name of the group, other than it was J.D.'s group.  Naturally, when they were having a little show-n-tell, I had to stick my nose in and take some pictures.  Above, Beth P. shows off her Triple Crown Quilt.  It is an American Jane pattern.  Beth said that some of the fabrics in this stunning quilt are ones that she hand-dyed.  Note:  Beth will be teaching how to make this quilt at J.D.'s retreat in October. 

Charlene made this beautiful quilt in the turquoise and gray fabrics.  She said she didn't remember the name of the pattern but found it in a magazine.   A special thank you to these lovely ladies for sharing these quilts with us.

It was a busy day on Wednesday.  Vickie S. stopped in to show us her two T-Shirt quilts that she made for her granddaughter Emily who graduates in June.

This is the second quilt that Vickie S. showed us.

I had to show you this close-up of one of the T-shirts.  Adorable.

Marilyn stopped in at the shop.  I think she brought this in to show one of the ladies in the other group.  At first she said I didn't want to take a picture because it really was just and old Jelly Roll quilt.  But I talked her into it because I thought you world like to see the beautiful fabrics. Thanks, Marilyn for sharing.

DO YOU REMEMBER BETTY BOOP?

Do you remember Betty Boop?  I got to see a dear friend today and had a chance to see what she’s been up to.  Which, I find out, has been a lot.  This is the first quilt she showed me.  I love this quilt that Misti made from long-held T-shirts and fabric that it took her a year to find. Note the black and white T-shirts on the sides in the middle...they are the front and back of one T-shirt, as is the block in the upper left and the lower right.  

This block is Misti’s favorite!  She made this adorable quilt for her husband Ken's stepdaughter.  His previous wife had passed away of cancer and this quilt is a gift for her daughter. These T-shirts belonged to her mother and Misti thought this would be a wonderful gift for her.

These are close-ups of the individual blocks!  Aren’t they wonderful!

Above are some of the fabrics that Misti search for over a year to find.  Misti you are a treasure to make this thoughtful gift for your stepdaughter.

Misti hasn’t been quilting for that long, but she is really going to town with it.  Above are some appliqué blocks that she is working on.  She said as she builds out, she will find different flowers to use on the blocks.  I can’t wait to see this quilt.

This is another project Misti is working on (she has become a true quilter with multiple projects going at the same time).  She said these watermelons are from a kit that she purchased some time ago.  Won’t these look great on the deck this summer!

While shopping on the Net, Misti found this wonderful vintage camper fabric.  She had to have it and used it to make lots of pillowcases.

In order to use all that vintage fabric, she changed where she placed it on the pillowcases.  This is a clever way to use all your beloved fabric.

And last but not least, Misti gave me this beautiful seam ripper.  Her husband Ken makes them.  I’m so thrilled and can’t thank them enough for this gorgeous gift.  Quilting friends are the best!

PEGGY'S AWESOME T-SHIRT QUILT

Today I’m devoting this post to Peggy who made this fantastic T-shirt quilt for her granddaughter.  Not only is it large, it is filled with wonderful memories.

 Another view.  That is Peggy on the right.

 Peggy put a lot of thought into making this quilt.  It tells of the places her granddaughter went and the things she did.  Note the scrap on the pink square above the block that says Caledonia High School.  That little scrap is what was left of the girl’s baby blanket.

 Peggy incorporated just about everything but the kitchen sink (what teen ager would go near that anyway) in making this quilt.  Above Peggy included her granddaughter's Girl Scout Sash and badges on the bottom border.  How clever.

Check out the little romper suit in one block and a bib makes up another block.

 This is another piece of baby clothing.  Note the pink diamonds on the sashing between the blocks.  I wish you could see this quilt for real as it is really awesome.  Peggy, your granddaughter must be thrilled and you should be proud!  Thanks for sharing with us. 

And a special thank you goes to Judi A.  The first time I saw this quilt, I didn't have my camera.  Then, I was unable to make it to the Attic Window Quilt Shop when Peggy shared her quilt during a Bee, so Judi took the pictures and shared them with me.
