HAPPY SCRAPPERS GET A DEMO!

The Happy Scrappers met at the Attic Window Quilt Shop Wednesday and Chris had a surprise for us.
She had the fabric squares cut for us and she showed us how to make an hourglass block using the Eleanor Burns method.
She also showed us how to use this new tool for squaring up the block.
Chris had plenty of fabric squares for us to practice on.  Above, Mary shows us her blocks.
We also had some show-n-tell.  Above, Janalee shows us her tablerunner.  She is participating in the tablerunner BOM at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.
These are the hourglass blocks that Janelee made that day.

A special thank you to Chris for giving the demo and provinding all the fabric for us to practice!

I know this picture makes you wonder, but this really is going to be a keepsake.  Cathy brought several quilts for Carol H. to quilt and we got to see them.  Above is a special quilt for Cathy's daughter who got married last year.  Cathy provided the Craft-Tex for wedding guests to jot down well wishes. Since the theme for the wedding was travel, Cathy purchased passport fabric to sash the squares and make this memorable quilt.  On the top left in the picture you can see the backing for the quilt.  Cathy said those were the flowers used in the wedding.
Cathy also brought this quilt to be quilted.  It was a BOM from a few years ago.
This was another BOM that Cathy brought in for the quilter.
Above is the back of that quilt.  Cathy said she put her mistakes on the back. Looks pretty good to me!
Above is the paper pieced block that Cathy worked on that day.
Chris showed us this quilt. Each shop on the Heart of Winter Tour had a special quilt that they made using a pattern from the same book. This was the one she made for the Attic Window Quilt Shop.
She said that the quilt was made from this book and this charm pack.  Every person on the bus received the book and charm pack.  Meals and snacks were also included in the price.  And, you didn't have to drive!  You could sit back and socialize and then shop at various shops during the day.  What a deal!  I hate that I missed it!

A BEAUTIFUL FINISH AND SOME NEW SAMPLES

I may not have been able to go on the Attic Window Quilt Shop Heart Of Winter Bus Tour, but I did get to see this beautiful quilt.  Sue Chambers sent me this picture of her latest finish.  This is what she said about it, "The pattern is called Bird Walk by Material Girlfriends.  I bought it as a kit and made it just because I liked it."  I like it too.  I'm especially fond of that block in the upper right hand corner of the tree branches with the birds.  Adorable!  Thanks Sue for sharing with us!

Remember, I promised more pictures of the placemats and tablerunners that you will be making in Vickie S.'s class.  Here are three samples.

They are all lovely and I bet fun to make.  Vickie's Bargello Placemat class is Friday,  Feb. 22.  Be sure and call the shop to register and get the supply list.

I was hoping to get pictures of the Heart of Winter Tour Bus Trip that was held this past Saturday, but the only ones I got were from Misti.  Above, is the picture she sent me of Chris at the Attic Window Quilt Shop busy with the first bus load of happy guests.
I was so sad that I was unable to make the trip this year as I had previous family commitments, and family comes first.  Above, is another picture Misti sent.  She said Holland was really snowy.
Misti was on the bus from Newaygo and sent this picture.  From what I hear everyone had a wonderful time.  So sorry I missed it this year.  Thank you Misti for sending the pictures. You're the best!
ATTENTION:  A new class has been added to the Calendar.  On Saturday, Feb. 22, Vickie S. will be showing you how to make Bargello Placemats and Tablerunners.  You don't want to miss this. Above is just one of the beautiful placemats that Vicki made.  More pictures to come.
