ARE YOU AN APPLIQUE ADDICT?

The Attic Window was a busy place when the Applique Bee met recently.  There was lots of gabbing and show-n-tell.  Above is the Sycamore Rose block that Judie M. was working on.
I wanted to show you this jacket that Judie also made.  It is made from old blue jeans and adorned with appliqué.  Wonderful!
Above is Cathy M’s Table Runner.  The pattern is from the book Skinny Quilts by Kim Schaefer.  So cute!
Cathy gave us a demonstration as to how she does her appliqué using aluminum foil.
Above she shows us how she pulls the foil around the freezer paper template.  First she makes the freezer paper template, irons it onto the fabric, leaves about a fourth inch of fabric around the template.  She then applies starch to the fourth inch of fabric and pulls the foil around the template, bringing the fabric with it.
She then irons the edge, making a nice crease in the fabric.  Cathy says she uses heavy duty foil for this technique.
Above is the perfect circle that she made during the demonstration.  A special thank you to Cathy for showing us how to do this.
This is the Sycamore Rose block that Nancy is working on.  Nancy uses the fuze and machine appliqué technique.  Great job!
Diane made this very modern looking quilt called Reverse Psychology.  The pattern is from the book Quilt Batik by Cheryl Brown.  I think Diane should come to the Mod Squad meetings too!
Above is Erma’s Youth Quilt.  The pattern called “One For The Boys” is from a magazine but she forgets which one.  Cute quilt!

MORE UP COMING EVENTS AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP:
  • 7th ANNUAL SPRING FLING SHOP HOP, March 28th through April 5th.  Six west Michigan shops are included with giveaways at each shop.  Passports can be purchased for $5 at any shop.  Visit the shop to sign up for a drawing and receive a free pattern.  At the end of the shop hop there will be a drawing for a sewing machine from completed passports.  Participating shops are:  Attic Window Quilt Shop; Calico Creations (South Haven); Custom Quilts Unlimited (Fennville); Pressing Matters Quilt Shoppe (Holland); Queen Bee Quilt Shoppe (Grand Rapids); So South Haven (South Haven).
  • THE QUILTER’S ROAD TRIP is April.  12 Shops are participating.  Passports are $5.  Each shop chose a different month for its wallhanging.  Chris chose January because she loves snowmen.  Secretly she’s afraid we’ll all be made at her for choosing snowmen since we are so sick of snow here in Michigan.  I don’t think she needs to worry because that snowman is so darn cute!  Patterns and kits are available for purchase.
ON ANOTHER NOTE: My Go Go Life has a tutorial for an interesting block.

Until next time,

Stay Calm! Stay Kind! Stay Positive!

I love Judie's jacket! Did she have a pattern she used to make the jacket? I've been looking for a way to make a jacket from recycled jeans.
