This is the class Sample that Marilyn made.
This is the inside of the bag. The pattern is Classmate by Atkinson Designs.
Thirteen of us were supposed to attend the class a week ago, but it was cancelled due to the weather. Today several of us attended the makeup class and the rest of those who signed up for the class will meet at another time in the near future. Above is Bess H. She was the first (and only) one to finish the bag today. It looks so professionally done!
Jeanne L. put a pocket on the front of her bag. That is so clever. Wish I had thought of that.
Darlene J. is using beautiful black and white fabrics for her bag.
It was so much fun seeing these bags develop and looking at all the gorgeous fabric combinations. Above, Lee Ann is using a fabric with bright florals on a dark background. She complimented that with a green fabric for the inside. Can’t wait to see it completed.
Mary Ellen used some lovely brown fabrics. No, it is not a spot on the film or a bruise on her head. Mary Ellen was a good girl and went to church this Ash Wednesday morning.
Yvonne, being the rascal that she is, would not let me take her picture, but I did get to show you these striking fabrics she is using for her bag.
And I was one of those who did not get her bag finished either. But this is the inside of the bag.
And this is the outside. All I have to do is put on the binding.
These bags are so useful and Marilyn said she had made about five of them. She said they are good for traveling or some use it for make-up. This bag has a multitude of uses other than sewing supplies. It was a great day and as we were leaving I heard a student ask Marilyn when she was having the class again because she wanted to take the next class and make another bag. Marilyn said there would be another class in April, so keep an eye out for the time and date.
UP COMING EVENTS AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP:
- 7th ANNUAL SPRING FLING SHOP HOP, March 28th through April 5th. Six west Michigan shops are included with giveaways at each shop. Passports can be purchased for $5 at any shop. Visit the shop to sign up for a drawing and receive a free pattern. At the end of the shop hop there will be a drawing for a sewing machine from completed passports. Participating shops are: Attic Window Quilt Shop; Calico Creations (South Haven); Custom Quilts Unlimited (Fennville); Pressing Matters Quilt Shoppe (Holland); Queen Bee Quilt Shoppe (Grand Rapids); So South Haven (South Haven).
- THE QUILTER'S ROAD TRIP is April. 12 Shops are participating. Passports are $5. Each shop chose a different month for its wallhanging. Chris chose January because she loves snowmen. Secretly she’s afraid we’ll all be made at her for choosing snowmen since we are so sick of snow here in Michigan. I don’t think she needs to worry because that snowman is so darn cute! Patterns and kits are available for purchase.
- Happy Scrappers meets Saturday from 10-5.
ON ANOTHER NOTE: A Woman A Day has a tutorial for happy feet quilt binding. I have to try this!
Until next time,
♥

All of the bags are lovely... using such interesting fabric combinations. What a fun class! I just made that same bag this past weekend and today will be sewing the last stitch in my binding. I love how my bag turned out, love the very thorough (and easy) pattern, and plan on making many more. Thanks so much for sharing!
What great bags! Classmate has been a popular class at my LQS too.
Great bags and so useful, too! Great class!! Thank you for sharing. Great link, as well.
