Bev also brought this little quilt to show me. A couple of years ago when I was participating in the Monday Modern Quilt Along at 42 Quilts, I decided to make the quilt for my grandson who loves the color orange. You can see the finished quilt here. However, I had this one flower block that I didn’t think he would like in the quilt. When I posted about it on my blog, Michele Bilyeu of the With Heart and Hands blog saw the post and suggested that if I didn’t want the block, I could send it to her and she would use it to make a small quilt to be auctioned off at the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative (AAQI). I sent the block to her along with some of the other pieces of fabric that I had used in my Modern Quilt and Michele made this darling little quilt, which she put up for auction. You can learn more about AAQI here. I love Michele’s blog. She seems like such a caring and loving person and I was happy to do this. In fact when I saw the little quilt that she made, I thought I’d buy it. However, Bev beat me to it. She brought it to the Bee to show me. It was so nice to see it in person and so kind of Bev to contribute to such a worthy cause. Thanks Bev for sharing all these lovely items.
You can see the before and after pictures of this little quilt here. A special thanks also to Michele. She is one talented lady.
UP COMING EVENTS AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP:
- 7th ANNUAL SPRING FLING SHOP HOP, March 28th through April 5th. Six west Michigan shops are included with giveaways at each shop. Passports can be purchased for $5 at any shop. Visit the shop to sign up for a drawing and receive a free pattern. At the end of the shop hop there will be a drawing for a sewing machine from completed passports. Participating shops are: Attic Window Quilt Shop; Calico Creations (South Haven); Custom Quilts Unlimited (Fennville); Pressing Matters Quilt Shoppe (Holland); Queen Bee Quilt Shoppe (Grand Rapids); So South Haven (South Haven).
- THE QUILTER’S ROAD TRIP is April. 12 Shops are participating. Passports are $5. Each shop chose a different month for its wallhanging. Chris chose January because she loves snowmen. Secretly she’s afraid we’ll all be made at her for choosing snowmen since we are so sick of snow here in Michigan. I don’t think she needs to worry because that snowman is so darn cute! Patterns and kits are available for purchase.
Until next time,
♥

I can say first hand what a joy it is to have a fabric portrait made by Carol. Bev in fabric is awesome! That little quilt is adorable and the full size quilt is fabulous too!

How fun that you got to see your block again. I was just thinking this weekend that I need to quilt my Modern Monday quilt.
