HAPPY SCRAPPERS AT THE ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

All week long I looked forward to sewing with my friends at the Happy Scrappers meeting at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  However, on Saturday I was beginning to think was going to be sewing alone as it seemed that everyone was on the Shop Hop.  Jill, who works at the shop, came in and sewed with me until things got busy.  She showed me this stunning quilt (shown above) that she had just finished.  It is really awsome!  And it was so nice to talk to her as it had been a while since we had been able to do that.

Then, finally, other Happy Scrappers began to arrive.  Above is Adrienne with an arm full of scraps.  She is really a fun quilter and she shares her scraps with us all, which is wonderful since her fabrics are so different from mine.  I love experimenting with them.

And look at these beautiful, bright squares that she is making out of those scraps.  Can't wait to see this quilt!

And Vicki joined us.  Vicki teaches at the shop and is an excellent quilter with lots of helpful ideas.

Vicki was busy making bee bocks and flower blocks.  I can't wait to see this quilt.  Flowers are my favorite!

Mark your calendar now for Saturday, April 30 for the next Happy Scrappers meeting.  All are welcome to join us.  Some have expressed an interest on a meeting of the Happy Scrappers during the week.  If  a midweek session would work better for you please let me or Chris know and we will add that to the calendar.

Don't forget to stop in at the Attic Window Quilt Shop and see all the new books, fabrics and notions.

The Attic Window Quilt Shop is open Monday-Friday, 10-5; Saturday, 10-4.

HAPPY SCRAPPERS & SHOP HOP REMINDER!

Hello Quilters!  What have you been working on?  I've been practicing my free motion quilting and as you can see, I still need lots of practice  I think it's actually true what they say about getting far away from the quilt and you don't see flaws in your quilting.

And there are spots that don't look too bad.  I chalked in this design with a stencil and just followed the lines.
And there are a couple places that don't look too bad.

But, oh, my, look at the dark fabric.  The quilting really shows up and it is bad.  I know I need lots and lots more practice and any words of wisdom would be appreciated.  How can I get a handle on this?  I don't seem to be in control of my machine, and my mind, well, I need control of that too.  I am used to using pantographs and then knew what to do when.  Unfortunately, I don't have that option now and really need to plan my quilting and be more aware of what I'm doing.  Oh, my!!!

Enough said about that. I really wanted to remind everyone that Happy Scrappers meets this Saturday, March 26, at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Hope to see you there!

And don't forget that the Quilt Tracks Shop Hop is still going on.  This is the last weekend March 24, 25, 26.  Time:  Thursday and Friday from 10-5; and Saturday 10-4.  Receive a Free "Prairie Tracks" pattern after visiting all three shops.  20% off Fabric, Patterns, Books, & Notions.  Regular priced merchandise only.  Door Prize Drawing at each shop - a value of $50.  Passport is $6.

SHOP HOP STARTS NEXT WEEK!!!!

Before I tell you about the Shop Hop, I have to show you my latest finish.  This is what I was working on during our last Happy Scrappers meeting at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  It is made entirely from scraps.  A special thank you to Cathy Mueller who gives me her scraps.  And a special thank you to Adrienne Wilson who brought a big tote full of her scraps to share with us at our last Happy Scrappers meeting.  I couldn't resist and had to dig through that pile too.  So much fun!!!
