ANOTHER FINISH!

I have another finish!  Actually, the top was completed a while ago but I couldn’t decide how I wanted to quilt it.  My Pfaff on a frame doesn’t do straight lines well and I thought it too big for my domestic machine.  The quilt is called Everything’s Coming Up Rainbows by Krista Fleckenstein of Spotted Stone.     I found the pattern in the book Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe.

Using bright colors against a light gray background make these blocks pop.  It can be made into a table runner, lap quilt, wall hanging, or large bed quilt.  I made it half as large as the pattern called for.  This is a sample for the upcoming class at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  The class will be Wednesday, June 19th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Call the shop to register for the class.

This is a closer look so you can see the quilting.  In the end I decided on a bunch on shorter straight lines boxed and overlapping one another.  I’m not sure how much I like the pattern, but the quilt really came out nice and flat.

IS IT A TABLE RUNNER OR A WALL HANGING?

This is what I’ve been working on this week.  I posted a picture before, when I had it on the frame.  It is now finished.  Above you can see how it would look at a table runner. (Although, I laid this on the floor to take a picture because it would overwhelm my small table.)

But when you look at it this way you can see how it would work as a wall hanging.  I have the perfect spot for it on a wall in my hall.  This quilt is Flower Pops from the book Skinny Quilts  by Kim Schaefer.  This pattern can be made into a bed runner, table topper or wall hanging.  I had to adjust the pattern a bit since I wanted it shorter than a bed runner. 

I also made this little bunny wall hanging.  The pattern is We’re All Ears in McCall’s Quilting Magazine, January/February 2013.

A COUPLE FRIDAY FINISHES

I have a couple Friday Finishes today.  I had an extra block left over from My Whimsical Garden that I posted about here and also here.  So I made it into a small wallhanging that I plan to put on a door so my mother will recognize which door is which.

I posted about this fun quilt here.  I finally quilted it and wanted to show it to you mainly because I like the backing.  I think I can turn it over and it will be just as cute.

A FRIDAY FINISH

This is my finish for the week.  I used a Jelly Roll to make this quilt and, no, you have not seen this one before.  It just looks the same, but when I showed you this quilt a couple weeks ago, I used a Layer Cake.  When I made the above quilt, I used the same fabric but it was from a Jelly Roll.  The fabric is Happy Campers by American Jane for Moda.  My thinking was that I had so much trouble piecing the layer cake, that surely this precut Jelly Roll would be easier.  In addition, the pattern was from Moda (sorry I forget the name) and looked simple like something I could do.  What a hoot!  I cannot tell you how I struggled making this quilt. 

I was almost ready to give up piecing all together.  Then I changed my mind when I was visiting Sew Happy Me and found instructions for accurate piecing.  I purchased two cans of spray starch, checked and rechecked my sewing machine to make sure I had a scant quarter inch seam, and stacked a pile of leaders and enders by my machine.  I’m ready to make some more stars for the soldiers and I’m hoping they can be more accurate this time.
