Thanks so much to everyone for your comments. I value all your suggestions about what I should do with my teapots. As you can see above I chose to go with the buttonhole stitch in black, but I’m using only one strand of floss. I did try other colors of floss but wasn’t satisfied with the effect, then I tried the straight stitch and didn’t think that gave me the definition I wanted, therefore, the buttonhole stitch.
I just discovered a new blog (well, new to me) by a fellow Michigander and hope you’ll give her a visit. Allie-Oops Sweet Happy Life has a free stitchery that is just darling.

I love your colors in your Aunt Millie's blocks.. I have the pattern but fear I'll never get to it. You inspire me!
I didn't put my two cents in on the earlier post about the teapots, but I think you came up with the right answer! (I knew you would)
And I LOVE the Aunt Millie block, especially the center...very whimsical. Perhaps your eye wanted a darker center? I think the lighter orange changes the focus, but it's just another way of looking at things.
Hi Caroll,
I like that center, and I'm not even an orange person! Your block is beautiful!
Have a great day. Vicky F
I love that block! I'm an orange fan, such a happy color, and I really like the colors in this.
Love the teapot too. I think one strand is the perfect solution. It highlights it but doesn't overwhelm it. Good job!
Thanks for the shout-out - and the sweet comment!
Your teapot looks perfect!!
I love the colours you have used in your Aunt Millie's block.
I love all of the vibrant colours. the camera always does strange things.
