A WEEK TO REMEMBER

Hello everyone.  I'm sorry I haven't been able to post much this week.  It has been a week to remember.  We had over 10 inches of snow, injured my thumb and can't sew or hardly type, my cat died and my heart is broken, then my computer had to go to the shop.

Enough of that.  Above is the QAYG wall hanging that I was working on prior to this week.  Had hoped to get it finished, but life had different plans.  Soon I hope.

In the mean time I wanted to get info to you about what is happening next week at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.

SOMETHING BRIGHT AND NEW

When I walked into the Attic Window Quilt Shop this past weekend and saw this, I thought, Wow!
Vickie S. made these samples for the shop.  The pattern is from the book Modern Twist.  I'm hoping she will have a class on how to make these stunning pieces.
Vickie S. also made this adorable Snowman Quilt.  She said the pattern is from Bird Brain designs.  I don't think this particular pattern is in the shop, but...
There are a lot of similar snowmen patterns in the book Snow Parade by Carb-apple Hill.  You can find it at the shop.
Misti sent me a picture of her latest table topper.  It is so sweet!  Thanks Misti for sharing.
I forgot to show you what I worked on Saturday at Happy Scrappers.  Lynn of Alamosa Quilter is having a Goose On the Loose quilt along.  You can learn about it here.  I made these two three-inch blocks (Yes 3").  When I exclaimed that this was a great way to use those small scraps, Cathy said she thought scraps that small were meant for the trash bin.  LOL  I must admit, I'm not used to working with pieces this small.  It was a challenge and I'm not sure how many of these I will be making.  It is paper pieced so that helps.

SOME EYE CANDY FOR YOU

The Happy Scrappers met this past Saturday at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above, Vickie S. shows us what she worked on.  The pattern is called Tropics and is a Jelly Roll quilt.  How beautiful!
This is a closeup of Vickie S.  She is now working on this lovely applique block.  She said it is an Edyta Sitar pattern.
Jill showed us this quilt top that she made for young man who is graduating from college.  I bet he will love it.
Judi A. worked diligently on her flannel quilt.
Judi (left) and Cathy (right) help me to get a better picture of Judi's quilt.  Thanks gals.
I caught Nancy at the ironing board.  I love these blocks and look forward to seeing them in a quilt.
Sheryl shows us these two Pop Ups that she and Jill made when they took Diana's Make It Take It class.  These can be crushed flat for ease in carrying.  What cute little places for your thread and fabric scraps.
Yvonne was working on her "food" quilt.  Isn't this fabric fantastic!
Diana was working on English Paper Piecing.  She said this pattern is called Smitten.  Looks like fun!

YOU WILL WANT ONE OF THESE BOOKS

Today I want to show you some of the new books in at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Stitching anyone?
When I saw this one above, I snatched it right up.  Everyone from beginner to experienced sewer is sure to find a project just for them in this book.
This is the first project I made.  Well actually I made the place mat.  I had the fabrics left over from the table runner beneath the place mat, so it seemed the right thing to do.
This is a closer look.  There are so many projects in this book that I couldn't decide what to do first.  Typical of me, I chose the first and easiest project.  Besides, I had the fabrics on hand.  I'm off to the shop today to get more fabric for a different project.  I can't wait to start it.

This is another new book at the shop.  I love applique and have been struggling with myself not to get this book.  We'll see how that works when I visit the shop today.
This book isn't new but is a must have for me.  You may remember I've posted about it before.
These are the cute little mug rugs that I previously made.  Now I'm ready to see what else is in the book for me to make.  I love mug rugs.  They make perfect gifts!

HAVE YOU MADE THESE QUILTS?

When I was at the Attic Window Quilt Shop the other day I took some pictures of new quilts on display.  Above is this stunning quilt that Jill made.  She made it with the Quilt In A Day ruler.  I love the colors she used.
Jill finished her Fanfare Log Cabin.  Those colors are awsome too!
Jill also finished this beautiful quilt.  It is from last year's sampler blocks.  I love how each person has finished the settings on this quilt.  All so different.
I think Vickie S. finished this sample for the Chick a Dee BOM.  I wanted to show you this because I know several people wondered what this BOM was about.  A panel in the middle, with lots of piecing around the outside.  Fantastic!
The Purr-Fectly Pieced BOM started this month.  This is just one of the patterns you could use.  There are five different monthly patterns.  You can make a quilt with all of them, or individual wall hangings.  So cute!

DID YOU GO ON THE HEART OF WINTER TOUR?

This past Saturday the Attic Window Quilt Shop was one of the shops visited on the Heart of Winter Tour.  Above (left to right) Sue, Marilyn, and Robbie were busy getting ready for the first bus to arrive.
Left to Right, Jill, Cathy, and Robbie are filling goodie bags for the guests.
And then the first bus arrived.  This bus was from Kalamazoo.
Most of the women on the bus had not seen the new shop.  I think they liked what they saw.
In no time everyone got down to the business of shopping.
Marilyn gave a demo on how to use the pineapple tool from Creative Grids.
Above is her sample.  It is stunning and I can't wait to take this class from Marilyn.
Look at this beautiful lady.  I couldn't resist and had to ask why she had the tiara on her head (can you see it?).  She said that she was queen of the bus.  She also told me that when they left the shop to go to the next shop she had to give it up because someone else would be queen for that trip.  How cute!
 Jill is helping customers.
Marilyn is helping customers select a pattern for the mat I told you about here.
Soon the Kalamazoo group was back on the bus to the next shop and then the bus from Portland arrived.  Those on that bus received a nice lunch while at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.
After lunch,, they had time to shop too.
Marilyn showed each group how to use the Pineapple tool.
These women did some serious shopping.
The line was a little long, but they were so patient and friendly we hated to see them go.

Another bus with the group from Montague arrived later in the afternoon.  However, I had to leave before they came.  Then, around dinner time the Attic Window bus arrived back at the shop where they had a nice supper before heading home to fondle their fabric purchases of the day.  What a fun day for everyone!

HAPPY SCRAPPERS MEET AT ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

The Happy Scrappers met this week at the Attic Window Quilt Shop.  Above Marti shows us her latest finish.  Mary Gee quilted it.  Love the modern feel of this quilt.
Above is block one of Judi's Dresden Star.  Note the stack of pieces she has finished and waiting to be placed into blocks.  This is a paper pieced pattern.

Judi is busy sewing her Dresden Stars.  Check out that pile of cut fabrics ready to be made into stars.

Lee Anne was busy too, but she was not using her sewing machine.  This day Lee Anne was doing Twilling.  I think she is making a Ruby Short McKim design in Twilling.  Can't wait to see it!

Peggy shows us the pile of little nine-patch squares she has been working on.  As I recall, she said she needed 150 squares and has nine to go.  Way to go Peggy!

THE HEART OF WINTER TOUR is Saturday, February 13.  Call the shop and make your reservations.  A few seats are still available.
