One thing I thought particularly nice was that I could use my scraps. I swore I was going to use my scraps instead of buying new fabric this year (what a joke). Applique is one reason I cannot cut all my scraps into various size squares. One never knows what size scrap will be perfect for that applique.
I show you this picture so you can see the size of my scrap piece.
Anyway, first it looked like this. Didn't like it.
So, I made some changes.
This is a closeup. But no matter how many times I turn it every which way to look at it, it still doesn't look like Deborah's. Maybe next time I'll use the fusing method and outline the petals in black. As for this one, I think I'll practice some FM quilting on it and turn it into a pillow.

ON ANOTHER NOTE:
- I like to use my special rulers more than once, so I'm always on the lookout for a pattern or tutorial that calls for a special ruler I have. Andie Johnson Sews has a tutorial for a mug rug using that 60 degree ruler.

Caroll, I don’t see what the trouble might be. I love the bright fabrics you chose for your flower. But you must be the one happy with it. This one will be a very fun Spring/Summer pillow for sure.
It doesn't look like Deborah's because it's YOURS.
Absolutely love your flower! Love the vibrant colors!! It is just perfect, especially for the spring and summer seasons coming up. Love the link you posted as well. Thank you for sharing.
Have a super great day!! Stay safe in the winter weather.
You know my friend, you picked just the right colors for your flower. I think making the flower your way is the best way. The original flower was just a jumping off place for you to make the flower your own. I know you love to applique, me too. It's a soothing, calm way to spend your stitching time.
Thanks Barb. You made my day!
